We get it - privacy matters. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our audio transcription service. We've written this in plain English because legal jargon helps nobody.
When you sign up, we collect your email address and create a secure password for your account.
You send us audio files to transcribe. We temporarily store these files to process them, then we're done with them.
We keep track of how much you use the service (API calls, file sizes, etc.) so we can bill you correctly and make sure everything's running smoothly.
We use Polar to handle payments, so they get your billing details, not us. We just get a "yes, they paid" or "nope, didn't work" message.
We might look at usage patterns to improve our service, but this is always anonymized data.
All these companies have their own privacy policies and security measures. We picked them because they're trustworthy, but you should check out their policies too if you're curious.
We'll only share your data if legally required (like court orders) or to protect our service from abuse.
We take security seriously. Here's what we do:
No system is 100% secure. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If something does go wrong, we'll let you know as soon as possible.
Your audio files are temporarily stored on RunPod's servers during transcription. Once we're done processing them, they're deleted.
We don't keep your audio files after transcription. The text transcripts are yours to keep or delete.
You can access, update, or delete your account data anytime through your account settings.
Want to leave? No hard feelings. You can export your data before closing your account.
You can stop using the service anytime. We'll delete your data according to our retention policies.
We're based in the UK, but we welcome users from anywhere. By using our service, you're agreeing to have your data processed according to our local laws and this policy.
If we need to update this policy, we'll email you about significant changes. We won't make sneaky changes that affect how we handle your data without telling you.
Our service isn't designed for anyone under 18. If you're under 18, please don't use despeech.com without your parent's permission.
Questions about your privacy or how we handle data? Our founder is a real person and actually reads emails. Reach out to him at [ian@despeech.com].
This policy covers despeech.com's practices. Our service partners (Supabase, Polar, RunPod, Unkey) have their own privacy policies that also apply to your data.
